Strike the two cymbals together lightly, edge to edge, and listen until the sound has completely faded: that is your signal to begin. At the end, once more to close. Tingsha come from Tibetan Buddhist practice, where they mark the beginning and end of meditation. These are plain and made of heavy solid brass, which gives a deeper, longer ring.
