Rue & Palo Santo: the ritual

Two old house scents for the evening you come home.

  1. I

    Set the oil burner on a fireproof surface, away from curtains, and fill the bowl with water.

  2. II

    Add a few drops of rue to the water and light a tealight beneath. The oil goes into the water only, never on the skin.

  3. III

    On another evening, try palo santo, or two drops of each together. Never leave the flame alone, and blow it out before the bowl runs dry.
